![]() Īt one time, nearly 843,000 rural Canadian residents used rural (curbside) mailboxes for private mail delivery, though Canada Post has since required the installation of community mailbox stations for many rural residents. Although the United States Postal Service (USPS) has general regulations stating the distance a letter box may be from the road surface, these requirements may be changed by the local postmaster according to local environment and road conditions. In the US and Canada, rural curbside mailboxes may be found grouped together at property boundaries or road/driveway intersections, depending upon conditions. These receptacles generally consist of a large metal box mounted on a support designed primarily to receive large quantities of incoming mail, often with an attached flag to signal the presence of outgoing mail to the mail carrier. Rural and some suburban areas of North America may utilize curbside mailboxes, also known as rural mailboxes. Attached mailboxes are less common in newer urban and suburban developments and in rural areas of the United States, where curbside delivery or delivery to a community mail station ( cluster mailbox, known as a bank of post boxes in the UK) is generally used. They are especially common in urban and suburban areas of Canada, where the curbside mailbox is rarely seen except in rural areas. Attached wall-mounted mailboxes are still used in older urban and suburban neighbourhoods in North America. They are known as "full-service" mailboxes when they have provisions for securing outgoing as well as incoming mail. ![]() Wall-mounted or attached mailboxes may also be used in place of mail slots, usually located close to the front door of the residence. Īn attached or wall-mount letterbox, with a hook underneath for newspapers Sending mail from private addresses is possible in the UK, but Royal Mail usually charge an extra per-item fee for this service. Mail slots are limited to receiving incoming mail, as most have no provision for securing and protecting outgoing mail for pickup by the mail carrier. There may also be a small cage or box mounted on the inside of the door to receive the delivered mail. Some letterboxes also have a second flap on the inside to provide further protection from the elements. The flap may be closed by gravity, or sprung to prevent it opening and closing noisily in the wind. Most are covered by a flap or seal on the outside for weatherproofing. This style is almost universal in British homes and offices, but in the US is limited primarily to urban areas. ![]() A centralised mail delivery station consisting of individual mailboxes for multiple recipients at multiple addresses in a particular neighborhood or communityĪ "letter box", or "mail slot" in American and Canadian usage, is a slot, usually horizontal but sometimes vertical, about 30 cm by 5 cm (12 inches by 2 inches), cut through the middle or lower half of a front door.A centralised mail delivery station consisting of individual mailboxes for an entire building also known as a "flock" throughout the South Island of New Zealand and parts of America.A box mounted at or near the street ( curbside delivery).A box attached directly to the building (direct-to-door delivery).A slot in a wall or door through which mail is delivered (through-door delivery).Letterboxes or mailboxes use the following primary designs: For outgoing mail, Post boxes are often used for depositing the mail for collection, although some letter boxes are also capable of holding outgoing mail for a carrier to pick up. A letter box, letterbox, letter plate, letter hole, mail slot or mailbox is a receptacle for receiving incoming mail at a private residence or business. But I don’t know if you’ll end up loving it. ![]() Put the album on, play it through, and, if you like rocking blues played by a dirty dog (like I do), you’re bound to like it. If you’re going to get your kicks from feeling like a lecherous uncle at a family reunion, why be Platonic about it? The first is a fun song filled with enthusiasm at the idea of seducing a hot young school girl the latter sounds like someone actually trying to seduce a hot young school girl. It’s a good song and it’s got a beat you can dance to, but Winter’s version sounds too rollicking and spirited when heard against the slow drawls and moans of, say, Junior Wells’s version. And though Winter’s bawdy enthusiasm carries the day on most of the songs, it also limits a specific song like “Good Morning Little School Girl”. It’s not having a new slant, whether personal or sociological or both, that limits this good album to being merely good. So Cray’s great innovation was to satirize (or otherwise comment on) the tension of that mentality even as he mastered its formal - both musical and lyrical - requirements. The title of the song is “I Guess I Showed Her”.Įven as Cray’s boasts fall within the traditional blues boasts (“I’m like a Mississippi bullfrog sittin’ on a hollow stump / I got so many women I don’t know which way to jump”, for starters), his song is also a self-conscious reflection of how the times have changed, how, in the real world where life is actually lived, traditional blues machismo and boasting is pretty ridiculous. In one of Cray’s great songs, for instance, the narrator leaves his woman because “I caught her having lunch with some new guy”, leaving her everything he owns except his good lovin’. Like Vaughan, but unlike Cray or Raitt, Winter’s virtuosity shores up on blues tradition and makes new room in that tradition for rock boogie and tempo even as it fails to add new psychological insight to the genre. Maybe it’s the “caught in its own tradition” part that makes me less enthusiastic about this good, likable album than I otherwise might have been. Especially with Winter’s blues purism and virtuosity fully evident here (he covers Robert Johnson’s “When You Got a Good Friend” with full loyally to its solo acoustic roots, after all), this album stands as one of the latter-day highlights from a fading genre caught in its own tradition. So take all that as given and then factor in that, since this album was first released in 1969, there have been relatively few really noteworthy new blues artists to be introduced to the scene (Robert Cray, certainly, and Stevie Ray Vaughan … and I guess you could count Bonnie Raitt, too). And one of his original compositions is good enough to kick off the album, even as the rest keep the mood going between the classics he covers (like “When You Got a Good Friend”, “Be Careful with a Fool”, and that evergreen gem of creepy lust, “Good Morning Little School Girl”). He even has a good, distinctive voice, full of slurred high spirits that accentuate the dirtiness of his playing even as they balance against the technical precision of his fretwork. And give Winter credit for being more than just a virtuoso: he plays with a dirty rock raunch, one that’s both distinctive (he sounds a lot hornier than Clapton, not quite as trippy as Hendrix) and appropriate. ![]() This is a good album in the great white-blues-rock tradition, played, of course, by a virtuoso guitarist. ![]() All your beliefs are held there and that's how you live your life off your beliefs! ![]() You said this, but how can you say they can never be consciously perceived? How can you explain subliminal messages in disney movies films for children to marketing films ? The important thing is they are focusing on sex and you know why? To make a corrupt generation and you know that! The less "trained" the person, the most successful the operation. In general, if the person has developed or will develop evaluation skills and self train his mind through the ages it will be so much difficult to affect him. It depends on a huge number of factors and the relationships between them, something that differs from one person to another. I totally disagree that a subliminal message can control a person. It is left for you to seek the true ones. Please refer to "subliminal researcher" in decoding subliminal audio messages from well known popular webs. This takes a long time to explain and this article is based on non-scientific facts. ![]() It is not specified by whom! Is it the conscious or subconscious? The info provided are totally misleading and has nothing to do with real subliminal messages.Ģ-mentioned "subliminal messages are seen or heard". Walt Disney was a horrible man, and it even shows in his signature. The Virgin logo is becoming a little far-fetched but in Disney films, i believe every bit of the messages are evil. Some actually mean something, some don't. In all fairness, i think there are definitely subliminal messages in everything. Now people need to please lay off of the tv shows of my childhood years. While Disney was not a perfect man, he brought to life the wonderful Brothers Grimm tales in a fashion suited for young children to enjoy. That movie is actually the only one with any lewdness and the animator was immediately fired upon review. I notice there is a lack of real examples behind Disney's lewdness in his movies aside from the castle in the Little Mermaid. So even if their subconscious picked up the word, it would also not understand what it is seeing, primarily because it has not learned about it yet. Most children at the age of three and four don't even know what the word sex means, let alone how to accurately read. ![]() Second: You can't point that Disney is corrupting children by the use of that example, mainly because it is a wrong assumption and an isolated incident. If you watch the movie, really look closely for that. They put SFX somewhere in all the movies they did as a sort of artistic signature. In the movie the initials are actually SFX, which is the company that did the animation design for the Disney films of that time period. The subconscious mind accepts whatever is presented to it as fact, especially when your conscious mind is at ease, less suspecting of what is presented to you.įirst off: The use of the word sex in Disney's the Lion King is actually a misnomer. If you work in advertising and you do not have at least a basic knowledge of this fact you will go nowhere in your field. Subliminal messages can be found in anything. We can use them to program our own subconscious minds for our benefit as well. Oh really? I don't like subliminal advertising but subliminal messaging is really helpful when you use them for your self help. The renaissance artist Albrect Durer (1471-1528) was using many subliminal messages in his art. Target has used a red and white target as there logo at least since the 1960's, so red is a color associated with Target. Subliminal priming is not so strong as could be imagined.
